As always, Lawrence Lessig nails it. Not only does he present his “free culture” message using that extraordinary ability he has to preach his message of freedom, openness, and love, he re-asserts civil discourse and points out what liberals can learn from conservatives.

This also well illustrates one of the reasons why I can never and will never call myself “liberal” nor “conservative”: those labels eschew all nuance and complexity regarding issues that require both. Not all liberals are subservient to the Hollywood elite, and not all conservatives believe passionately in limiting regulation of the content market. But many on both sides do fall into those groups, and so we really need to move away from guiding our reactions and plans by a simplistic partisan dichotomy.
